Social center for children
2015

“All children, except one, grow up.”
The aim of the project was to help vulnerable children exposed to harm or at risk of social exclusion through architecture.

The project accomplished the design if a children center providing a safe, caring, family environment where support is tailored to the needs of each individual child, but also as a group. A place where they don’t need to grow up, before their time.

Kids Company
Found by Camila Batmanghelidjh in 1996. They provide practical, emotional and educational support to vulnerable inner-city children, young people and families. Their services reach 36,000 across London, Bristol and Liverpool, including the most deprived and at risk whose parents are unable to care for them due to their own practical and emotional challenges. For many, the roles of adult and child are reversed and, despite profound love, both struggle to survive.

Deepti Patel
Qualified as a lawyer before joining Kids Company where she created and managed the Child Rights team. During the last 5 years she has been working with the most complex and vulnerable clients.

Her current role is working directly for the CEO on innovation and strategic projects to highlight the prevalent patterns and behavior of children's social care system, to effect systemic change.
